Your email and your choice.
Christiaan van der Walt uses the email address you provide to verify your requested download of the complete book. Verification is required for the complete PDF. Chapter 1 is available without an email address.
The email-updates checkbox is optional and starts selected. You can uncheck it before requesting the book. Leaving it selected and confirming your email records your preference to receive book news, new editions, and agentic engineering updates. Unchecking it lets you download without subscribing.
We store your email address, verification date, and any mailing-list consent or withdrawal, including the consent wording version and date. Verification links expire after 30 minutes. Download access lasts 15 minutes. An IP-derived hash is temporarily used to limit repeated requests; the application does not store the raw IP address in its database.
Cloudflare hosts the site, stores the book and these records, and processes bot-verification challenges. Resend delivers verification emails. These providers process information needed to deliver those services and may retain their own operational logs.
You can unsubscribe using the link in your verification email. Future mailing-list emails must also include an unsubscribe link. To request access to or deletion of your stored email information, reply to your verification email. Verified download records are retained to administer access, and consent records are retained to manage your email preferences.
